LOCATION: Falmouth, ME

Worked with the client to expand the outdoor living space from an existing concrete paver patio. The rounded shape of the patio and connected granite walkways to the garage and garden were used to create a sense of flow and movement.

The patio is bordered by reclaimed and local granite. A combination of bluestone and Frenchman’s Bay granite produces a sharp contrast desired by the client. The two benches that border the patio were made from an old piece of wire-cut granite, hand-cut into a curved shape.

The client requested an artistic and functional patio space outside the main building as a public seating area.

Various local granite and bluestone were used to create a spectrum of colors, textures, and patterns. A nautilus-inspired spiral is the focal point.

The bluestone patio features an intricate design, with colorful stone flowers and stems woven seamlessly into its layout and bordered by granite cobblestone. Each flower is crafted from vibrantly colored stones, adding a burst of life against the deep blue-grey tones of the bluestone. The artistic arrangement of these stone stems and petals creates a naturalistic and inviting outdoor space.
